In 2015, Italian watermelon exports reached 171,000 tons, 1% more than the previous year. The 19% increase in average prices (0.37/kg) with respect to 2014 represents the peak of the past few years. This in turn led to an increase in value, which reached a level similar to 2012 (+20% with respect to 2014).
The main outlet for the Italian produce is once again Germany, which absorbs 40% of the total. It is followed by Poland with 15% and France with 9%. The Czech Republic continues its downward
