Growers have reported that up to half of this year's fruit production could have been lost due to the recent frosts and that prices may increase by up to 25%, as stated by Mr Csizmadia Gyrgyre, of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organisation.
He recalled that temperatures at dawn on Wednesday last week stood at minus 6-7 degrees Celsius in several parts of the country, while the meteorology did not indicate a risk of frost.
