Sales were $13,286 million, down 4 percent from $13,878 million.
Operating income of the US Convenient Meals segment jumped 30 percent in the second quarter from the same period a year ago; the US Cheese segment was up 9 percent; US Snacks rose 3 percent; US Grocery inched up 1 percent; Canada and NA Foodservice fell 6 percent and US Beverages eased 3 percent. Kraft Foods Europe fell 5 percent in operating income in the quarter while Kraft Foods Developing Markets was up 5 percent.
